Dick Butkus is the youngest of the Zabvronians on ABC's "The Neighbors."
Dick Butkus is Larry and Jackie’s youngest son. He’s precocious, well-mannered and in awe of this strange new world. Dick loves to express himself, whether it’s in the form of a love salute for his parents or defending his human friends in the face of danger.
Frail and unathletic, Dick was described by his brother Reggie as “not leading man material.” Dick himself would probably agree, as he once aspired to be a late-night talk-show host’s sidekick. Of course, Dick’s personality may have factored into Reggie’s evaluation, since that lad is high-strung and self-confident to a fault. Although he's not condescending, Dick has a knack for making those around him feel inferior... and uncomfortable.Dick possesses numerous unique gifts, such as the ability to change his human form, a power his Zabvronian elders do not possess. He spent Halloween 2012 following Debbie Weaver around reading her mind, and later confided to her that he possesses the ability, but it’s unclear whether or not he can read everyone’s minds. Perhaps this is merely a bond that exists between them which stems from the fact that Dick has an old female soul. His mother calls him “woman’s best friend,” and is frustrated when he claims he doesn’t need her to take care of him.
Dick is also handy to have around at picnics, as he’s akin to a human bug light. However, the bugs neither sting him nor die; the insects cling to his skin and he savors the tickling sensation.
One ability Dick does not possess is the power of levitation. You'd think Debbie Weaver would have figured that out when the boy got stuck at the bottom of a well, but it took an ill-fated E.T. bicycle ride to prove to her that Dick's not telekinetic.
"I love you so much much, Mother, that I would overthrow Father and love you as he does."
"Wonderful, just wonderful!"
"You're confused? I had my head in a excrement bowl for forty minutes!"
"God bless us, everyone!"
"Mom and Debbie Weaver got dressed up and went to Hell. As far as I'm concerned, you can go there too."
